NOTIFICATION, August 9, 2022
We regret to inform you that access to our InscriptiFact Digital Image Library will be forced to be discontinued permanently as of August 15, 2022, although we are planning on continuing distribution of images (see below). USC has updated its new security requirements and our systems are not compliant. We have worked diligently to provide compliance with these new security requirements; however, our current hardware is rapidly becoming obsolete, and we do not have the requisite funding to replace and maintain it on an ongoing basis. It has become particularly difficult to maintain InscriptFact in its current version due to the pending retirements of Bruce Zuckerman, director of the project, and Leta Hunt, who has managed the software development.
However, access to the archive of images currently on InscriptiFact will not be impeded on a longer-term basis. The images on InscriptiFact are currently available on the University of Southern California Digital Library, although many of the search functions, as found in InscriptiFact, are circumscribed. InscriptiFact images are currently available and will remain available at: https://digitallibrary.usc.edu/Archive/InscriptiFact----an-image-database-of-inscriptions-and-artifacts-2A3BF1OL6PW
There are links for instructions and for search terms that may be helpful. You will not have to register to retrieve the images. This dataset will replace our InscriptiFact database application for the time being. We have high hopes that a new and improved InscriptFact will be back on the web in a different venue in due course. We will keep you informed regarding this as matters develop. We want to thank all of you for your involvement in InscriptiFact and hope you feel as we do that it has substantially raised the level of scholarship in our various fields of study.
