The Church of Panagia tou Moutoulla | 1280 CE | John is shown with a trimmed mustache wearing pale olive-green tunic to below his knees and a slightly shorter cobalt-green overcoat, with black boots. Irene wears a head-dress that covers her head, ears, and neck similar to a wimple. Her gown reaches her feet and is a pale olive-green, with straight folds in red and yellow-ochre. Her cloak is cobalt-green, clasped low on the bosom with a large golden buckle. John and Irene hold a very simple model of the church. Both are painted in an austere manner common of religious paintings, with little differentiation of the features. The name in the inscription appears to have been changed at some point from Yerakiotis to Moutoullas. It is believed this change occurred following the growth of the village of Moutoullas. Previously the larger village would have been Yerakes. | N | John Moutoulla, Irene Moutoulla | whole wall | Apse | donors | donors, 13th century | |
